How repatriation works
The first call
Tell us the country and city of burial. We explain what that country requires and what it is likely to cost before anything is committed.
Collection and care
We collect your loved one and keep them at our premises while the paperwork is prepared.
Documentation
The death certificate, free-from-infection certificate, preparation certificate and coffin certificate are obtained and translated where required.
Consular authorisation
The embassy or high commission of the receiving country authorises the repatriation. We deal with that office directly.
Flight and airport
A flight with cargo space is booked, and we transport your loved one to the airport with the documents that must travel with them.
Arrival
We confirm the flight details so relatives can meet your loved one at the destination airport, and we stay reachable until the burial has taken place.
What affects the timing and the cost
Repatriation costs depend on the destination, the airline, and the requirements of the receiving country. Airline cargo charges and embassy fees are set by others and change, so we give a written quotation for your specific case rather than publishing a single figure.
The main causes of delay are a coroner's investigation, a missing passport, and consulate opening hours over a weekend or a public holiday. We will tell you plainly which of these applies to you.
