Questions families ask us.
What should I do immediately after someone dies?
Call us first on 07852 268014. We will tell you what to do about the doctor or the hospital, and arrange to collect your loved one. Nothing else needs to be decided in that moment.
Do you answer the phone 24 hours a day?
Yes. Burial is hastened in Islam, so the phone is answered at any hour, including nights and weekends.
Can you collect from a hospital or from home?
Yes, both. We collect from hospitals, mortuaries, the coroner and from a family home anywhere in London, and from across the UK.
Do you carry out ghusl and provide kafan?
Yes. The ghusl is performed at our premises by male or female attendants as appropriate, and the kafan is provided.
Can you arrange the janazah prayer and the burial?
Yes. We arrange the janazah with a mosque near the family, and the plot, grave and burial with the cemetery.
Is a same-day Muslim burial possible?
Often, yes, where the paperwork allows and a grave is available. Where the coroner is involved it can take longer, and we will tell you honestly what to expect.
What happens if the coroner is involved?
The coroner is the official who investigates a death that was sudden or unexplained. Your loved one stays in their care until they release them, and we deal with that office on your behalf.
Do you arrange repatriation?
Yes, to anywhere in the world, from anywhere in the UK, including the documentation, preparation and airport transport.
Which areas do you cover?
We are based in Streatham and serve families across South London and Greater London, with collections and burials throughout the UK.
How much does a Muslim funeral cost?
Charges vary with the cemetery. Our charges page lists them, and cemetery fees can change, so please call for a confirmed quotation.
Are you a registered charity?
Yes. Muslims Funeral Services Ltd is a UK registered charity, number 1149022, and is registered with the NAFD and SAIF.
Can you help a family who cannot afford a funeral?
Yes. Our Lawaaris community fund pays towards funerals families cannot afford. No one is turned away for being unable to pay.
